But as I said the CHD half doesn't change with each new mame version. The obvious issue is that internet archive's roms are only version.162 I think. ia-mame is a (command line) utility that acts as a wrapper for mame: you put in a game name and it either downloads that game (ROM/CHDs/everything required to run the game) from internet archive or it spits out search results list of possible game matches. So what you could try is using ia-mame to download those ROMs that are giving you the CHD error. I read though that the CHDs aren't updated the way the ROM sets are updated, on a per-version basis.
